What is Clinical Massage Therapy?
Clinical massage therapy is a form of massage therapy focusing on medical issues and pain relief. In order to work as a massage therapist, one must complete a training program; such programs may lead to the award of a certificate or associate’s degree.
What is Clinical Massage Therapy?
Since Erik specializes in Tui Na, or Chinese Medicine’s clinical massage, a session would be quite different than a typical massage session. Tui Na would have a client in loose fitted clothing, and focus more the discomfort, rather than just feeling relaxed. Herbal liniments, pastes and even Moxibustion (heated herbal treatment) may be used to improve muscle, tendon and joint discomfort.
Can Clinical Massage and Tui Na be combined in one session?
Absolutely! Both utilize similar techniques. While Clinical Western Massage will focus on muscle relaxation and rehabilitation, Tui Na Clinical Massage will add guided stretching, pressure point application, along with herbal liniments to fortify a therapeutic outcome.
Can a third person come and watch the session?
Yes! This is encouraged actually because it adds to familiarity, and.comfort. During Erik’s travels in China treating clients in the country side and city, more than 10 people would be in the session room waiting their turn for treatment.
Why should I book a session with Erik?
Erik is trusted among his long term clients and students. He has been.studying and practicing since 1993, starting at 13 in Qigong Therapy and Tui Na therapy. He has tons of experience, and continues to develop his techniques.
What is Awaken Meditation?
Awaken Meditation is Erik Oliva’s personally developed system of practice which encompasses over 30 years of Buddhist and Daoist philosophical, meditation and non religious esoteric practices.
What are some of the methods of Awaken Meditation?
Utilizing the 4 main aspects of meditation, standing, sitting, lying and walking, Awaken Meditation goes deep into breath-work, posture refinement, muscle, tendon and joint strengthening, self introspection, Zen methodology, visualization, mantra, mudra, and bio energy development. It is a complete system of self development, delving deep into the mind to transform, transcend, and awaken to the inherent wisdom that is in all of us.
What makes Awaken Meditation different from the rest?
This is a no b.s. system which cuts through the glitz and glamour of typical meditation techniques out there. Instead of sensationalizing Buddhist statues, prayer beads, “meditation clothing”, soft music, incense, bells, gongs, crystals, bowls, chimes, and the rest of the accessories of the so called meditation out there today, Awaken Meditation stresses reliance on one’s true inner power to break through the mind and awaken to that inner wisdom. It places emphasis on breaking down the illusion of what “makes” you spiritual, and helps you develop, reveal and.refine without the made up reliance on things.to.prove.one is “spiritual.”
Is Awaken Meditation like T.M. Transcendental Meditation?
Yes and NO. All meditation leads one to transcend the mundane of their mind. Techniques vary, but ultimately, every “end result” of any meditation is to transcend. However, Awaken Meditation is.not associated with the Transcendental Meditation organization, nor its instructors.
